You are poetry
You are poetry;
All broken pieces,
straining to fit together
like the discordant lyrics
of an old song.
Dissonant, but beautiful,
and velvet-smooth.
Stained-glass gossamer,
like the wings of a dragon fly.
Fragile against thorns,
but as strong as the waves of the ocean.
The breeze through the willow tree,
whispering secrets against my ear.
Standing tall against the world,
bending but refusing to break.
You are poetry-
all raw, sharp edges
and beautiful cadence.
A contradiction of parts,
fitting together in a storm of
broken pieces made whole.
